Dominique Hinman is a passionate screenwriter specializing in dramatic magical realism. With an impressive portfolio of seven completed scripts, Dominique's work has garnered recognition in prestigious competitions such as the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Final Draft's Big Break, and the Screencraft Public Domain Screenplay Competition.
With a background in theater, Dominique has demonstrated her versatility by holding original readings, directing shorts, and coordinating scripts for features and shorts in Los Angeles. Her diverse life experiences, from capsizing in Alaskan rivers to teaching in an inner-city public school, have shaped her resilience and provided a rich emotional wellspring for her writing. She has engaged with topics such as politics, religion, feminism, and global culture, drawing on her minor in Theology to explore the treatment of women mystics and queer expression. As a former Co-Leader of a progressive presidential campaign's national grassroots volunteer team and founder of an artist-activist-academic collaborative group, she has shown her commitment to making a positive impact through art, activism, and community building.
Dominique's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Theater (cum laude) from Loyola Marymount University, where she honed her craft and nurtured her love for meaningful storytelling.
